Jean Paul Gaultier’s last Haute Couture Show
Am 22. Januar 2020 präsentierte Jean Paul Gaultier seine letzte Couture-Schau im Théâtre du Châtelet in Paris. Das Enfant Terrible feierte 50 Jahre Karriere mit einer emotionalen und epischen Show. Die Theatershow, die über 200 Looks mit hochmodernen Kleidungsstücken aus seinem Archiv zeigte, umfasste eine Mischung aus Supermodels, frischen Models, Tänzern, Filmstars und Ikonen der Popkultur.
Zur Iconic Group gehörten Gigi und Bella Hadid, Karlie Kloss, Winnie Harlow, Irina Shayk, Coco Rocha, Cindy Bruna, Laïs Ribeiro, Jourdan Dunn, Joan Smalls, Paris Jackson, Yasmin Le Bon, Farida Khelfa, Erin O’Connor, Dita Von Teese und viele andere.
Über seine letzte Show sagt Jean Paul Gaultier:
«For this final collection, which marks my 50 years in fashion, I wanted to be true to my obsessions: jeans, corsets, sailor shirts, androgyny…but I wanted to take them even further, even farther out – finally just let it all rip! Celebrate yesterday, today and – especially – tomorrow. I believe that Fashion must change. There are too many clothes, so many clothes cast aside. Don’t throw them out, recycle them. A beautiful garment is a living thing.
Tonight you will witness my first upcycled Haut Couture collection, I emptied all my drawers, I revisited my old collections, I cut up a lot and reused the pieces. When you know how to look, beauty is everywhere.»
